Parents who advocate for education and support services for their kids know that the community that serves ASD is segmented and disjointed and that the private schools and one-on-one therapies available in many communities can be expensive treatment options. In some communities, these options simply don’t exist. The curriculum offered by Autism2Ability™ is an online solution that is easily accessible, affordable and consistent.
Autism exists on a spectrum from very mild to significantly limiting which makes personalization a critical first step. Autism2Ability is not a program that offers a one-size-fits-all template. In fact before kids access the online personalized resources, parents and/or teachers complete online assessments for each Autism2Ability component (i.e., App2Talk, App2Learn, and App2Live) providing profiles of information.
Profiles, in turn, guide the Autism2Ability recommendations. The information also provides progress tracking. Demonstrations through video clips guide parents and/or teachers in introducing the technology and component features to their kids. The assessment process also identifies information important in designing personalized presentation formats for each component (i.e., App2Talk, App2Learn, and App2Live) including (a) sensory integration function, such as length of time able to attend to a task; and (b) motivators, such as interest in trains or music.
